Start Here: Business Formalization in South Africa

Trust begins with registration. If your business is not yet formally registered and compliant, this is where your Veritas journey starts.

Why Business Formalization Comes First

Banks, investors and regulators can only trust what they can verify. Registration and compliance are the foundation for verification, valuation, credit readiness and funding. Formalization is Step 1 of the Veritas process — only formally registered businesses are eligible for Veritas verification, valuation, Data Pool registration and funding facilitation. Informal operators must first complete registration and compliance.

What Business Formalization Involves

Formalization typically covers three areas: business registration (the legal creation and naming of your entity), compliance documentation (the registrations and clearances demanded by government and regulators), and legal recognition (which allows your business to contract, trade and be verified).

What Happens Next: The Veritas Journey

Once registered, your business can move through the Veritas journey: business verification (KYC/KYB and compliance checks), then SME valuation (data-driven business valuation), then the Data Pool (a verified, credit-ready profile), then Funding Access (facilitated access to loans and booster funding, subject to lender approval and eligibility).

Note for businesses that have fallen behind on compliance

We help you become compliant. If you have fallen behind on registrations, returns or clearances, our team can guide you back into good standing so you can later qualify for Veritas services.
